48 Hours follows an investigation into the murder of Sheila Bellush, a Sarasota, Florida mother of six children, including quadruplets. Evidence led police to arrest three men for the crime, but Sheila's family feels that her ex-husband, Allen Blackthorne, hired them to kill her. Blackthorne, who had been heard to threaten Sheila following their bitter divorce, has not been charged with the crime and refuses to cooperate with investigators. Jamie Bellush, Sheila's husband and father of the quadruplets, has filed a wrongful death civil suit against Blackthorne which is scheduled to go to trial in the fall.
