What makes someone fit to be a parent? This report will try to answer that question.  Spencer Kass is a two-year-old boy caught up in an emotional custody battle involving his adoptive parents, Aaron and Lynda Kass, and his biological father, Michael Elskes.  Spencer's birth mother, Crystal Kane, had given the child up for adoption without Elskes' knowledge or consent. After over two years of fighting to get custody of his son, a Texas court agreed to hear Elskes' custody case, but while the hearing was in progress he abruptly asked for a meeting with Aaron Kass. He subsequently signed an agreement giving permanent custody of Spencer to the Kasses and allowing him visitation rights, a decision that he says was based on the best interests of his son.
