Towanda C. Braxton
Towanda Chloe Braxton was the fourth child born to Michael and Evelyn. Even though she and her siblings were reared in church singing, Towanda knew she wanted to spread her wings and become a trailblazer in her own right as an entertainer. At a young age Towanda had the natural gift for acting. While playing the role as Lorelle in the off-Broadway play "Dreamgirls”, the director immediately took interest in Towanda's raw talent and offered her a theater scholarship at Howard University. At that time, Towanda passed to follow her other passion: singing.
Towanda resides in Lawrenceville, GA with two small children, Braxton and Brooke, and her husband, Andre. Although Towanda is often referred to as the “secret squirrel” by her sisters, she gives this candid answer as to the status of their relationship: “Andre and I are officially separated but I did agree to allow him to live with us so we can both look after our kids and he can write and I can look for work as an actor. We live under the same roof but we don’t cohabitate. The most he does with my underwear is wash them. He doesn’t take them off, he don’t put them back on, he washes them. That’s it.”
Since Season One, Towanda claims she can’t go to the mall without getting her picture taken so it’s rough getting her shopping done. She’s been going to acting workshops, classes and she’s ready to pursue acting full time. Towanda insists that she doesn’t want to be a personal assistant anymore; in fact she wants to be big enough to have her own personal assistant. And she’ll be the first to tell you that Toni’s personal assistant isn’t the easiest job. “Since Toni is meticulous, you have to have hand sanitizer, baby wipes, know her medical stuff, and be a friend. You have to know how to organize her closet, her makeup, her travel makeup. As her assistant, you have to be the second brain of Toni Braxton.”
