Wedding Planning: Are You a “Jeanine”?

Jeanine will go down in Bridezilla history for being one of the most demanding, outspoken and crazy cast members. It’s no wonder her tumultuous journey to the altar didn’t end happily ever after. If you’re planning a wedding, there’s plenty you can learn from Jeanine’s bad behavior.

Don’t Piss Off the Makeup Artist
One of the best parts about being a bride is bringing in the experts to help take your everyday look up a notch. The last thing you want to do is be rude, insulting and ungrateful. Although you’re paying them for a service, they deserve to be treated with respect. It’s always smart to do a trial run to provide direction, show them examples of what you like, and work with them to achieve your dream day makeup. To see what not to do, check out this deleted scene of Jeanine bashing her makeup artist during her trial session.

Don’t Attack Your In Laws
Jeanine is a groom’s family’s worst nightmare. When the Bridezilla’s own father left her wedding, she blamed Thomas’ dad for giving him a ride, causing a huge scene at the reception. Rule of thumb: win over your in-laws because they’re going to be part of many future special occasions, not to mention part of your life forever. Don’t harass them, scream at them, or make threats! This kind of behavior could lead to some very uncomfortable future family gatherings… See her cringe-worthy freakout moment here.

Stay Calm Under Pressure
Not everything is going to be 100% perfect at your wedding. You have to roll with the punches, laugh things off, and realize that small snafus won’t come close to ruining your big day. No one ever notices! On the other hand, Jeanine says she goes from, “zero to a thousand in a second and calming me down is more like a twenty-four hour event.” If things don’t go smoothly, just take a deep breath, lean on family and friends for support, or hit the dance floor and shrug it off!

Treat Your Bridesmaids Like Friends, Not Servants
Could you imagine being part of Jeanine’s wedding party? She kicked her Maid of Honor out of the wedding and didn’t trust her replacement MOH to help with anything. While bridesmaids are there to lend a hand, they’re not supposed to be at your beck and call. Ask them to go shoe shopping with you, help stuff gift bags for out-of-towners, or give a great speech. But don’t be demanding and bark orders at them like they’re your personal assistant.

Respect Your Spouse
Good, strong marriages are based on communication and mutual respect. Those two things were clearly missing in Jeanine and Thomas’ relationship. At least Thomas was finally able to stand up for himself at the wedding saying, “You don’t shut your mouth long enough to listen to me.” You should never find yourself finally speaking up about long-lasting problems on your big day!
