How long have your been dreaming of your wedding day? I have been dreaming of my wedding and future since I was 7 years old. Once I met Mike and we were together I started to plan everything! I picked out colors, and people and flower, etc. and set my dreams high for the wedding of my dreams!
Approx. Wedding Budget: $7,000-$10,000
Who’s Paying for Wedding? Unfortunately, we are paying for the wedding ourselves, however we are getting a lot of things for our wedding for free!!!
Who’s in Charge of Budget? My Fiancé Mike is in charge of the budget; I am in charge of going over budget and spending.
What happens if you go over budget? When I go over budget Mike tends to yell and tell me how irresponsible I am and so on. I tell him how sorry I am and he gives me back the card because I am irresistible to him.
Describe your dream wedding dress: My dream wedding dress is designer strapless dress with extravagant beading. Beautiful clear ball buttons going all the way down the back of my dress along the zipper in a straight line down to the end of my extremely long train. The back of the dress would go down in a V cut, and the front would be a heart shape. It would be all white with beautiful designs at the points where the dress gathers and pickups. It would be very “poofy” and the dress would be absolutely jaw droping!
Who chose the rings? What’s the story behind the rings? My fiancé chose my ring and I chose his. Usually my fiancé pays for everything and when it came to his ring, I saved my own money and bought it for him for Christmas well before we were officially engaged. I told him I knew he was the on for me and I would never give my hand to anyone other than him so when he was ready I’d be ready. My ring he officially gave it to me as a temporary promise ring at my Grad Nite at Disneyland’s Space Mountain in 2008. He gave it to me as a temporary promise ring because I already had previously got one and the biggest reason was we had been together so long and he told me the only problems I had were my attitude, and control issues and once I got that under control we could officially announce our engagement. Time passed and we got into an argument and he took the ring back. September 8, 2009, our 5 year anniversary, he officially proposed!!! He took me to Casino Morongo in Palm Springs, California. He left my batteries for my camera upstairs in our room on purpose. He sent me to get them and when I turned on the light and on the bed was 2 champagne glasses with the ring in one glass and little note papers that said. “You” “Me” “Us Forever?” “Check Yes or NO”. It was so creative, and amazing. It would have been 10 times better if he would have wrote it in crayon. A couple of months later I left the ring in the bathroom and he took it and said I had to earn it back because I still have a huge attitude. After setting these goals he wanted me to meet he said if I passed theses “tests” we could set a date. I finally told him look its now or never, I’m not perfect but I try my hardest and that he knew I was the one and before he went to work he told me to clean the house and we would see what would happen when he got home. Ironically he hid the ring in our new bathroom where I left the ring before and said lets set a date! Now I have my ring and a date and I my dress and everything is now a reality!!!!
# of Guests attending: My family consists of 4 older brothers and they all have children and wives or baby mamas. I have 7 nieces and 5 nephews and a few more that I claim as my family. My mother comes from a family of nine. My fiancé come from a family of 3 and his father comes from a family of 9 along with his mother who is the middle child of 5. We also have a host of extended family and friends. So we are looking at 250-300 people.
# in Wedding Party: 30 including Mike and I
How helpful has the groom been (or not) in the planning process? He just gets in the way when I ask his opinion. He always tries to change my decisions. He expects me to do ALL the planning. He helps a lot with his wallet though.
Are you trying to lose weight before the wedding? How are you going about that? What’s your goal? Yes, I am trying to lose 30 pounds. I exercise daily 1-2 hours. And I eat small portions usually.
Tell us about your family. How have they been involved in the planning process?
My family doesn’t really have a lot of money however they are trying to do all they can to help. My uncle purchased my full attire for the wedding except my shoes. And my brother is paying for the invitations and favors for me. And my other brother is doing the food. Other than that I’m doing everything myself.
Who are your most/least favorite celebrity brides and why?
I really like Lala Anthony’s wedding (Carmelo Anthony’s wife). She was absolutely beautiful and got everything she wanted! Her venue was amazing and her guest list was the bomb. And she really did it up at her bachelorette party. Oh and let me not forget to mention Khloe Kardashian's wedding, oh what I would do to have a beautiful body like hers in 4 month and the way all of her bridessmaids alternated the shades of purple versus all wearing purple. I really didn’t like too many celebrity weddings because I am the true celebrity and my wedding will top them ALL!
How do you typically handle stressful situations in regards to your wedding? I yell, scream and will not settle for anything until I get my way. If I have to curse, hit or be a bitch then that’s just what I'm going to do.
Tell us any dilemmas or stressful moments regarding the below details of the wedding. What happened? How was it resolved?
Cake: The cake is being sent from Mississippi so I am stressed every time I think about it. I keep calling my Mother in-law to get details for me but every time we talk I hang up irritated and my fiancé has to deal with me. He says Im flat out rude to my mother in-law but this is my wedding not hers.
Date: My fiancé set the rules that I have to follow in order for us to be able to set a date. We argued fought and screamed about it for months then I gave up and he picked the date.
Dress: My bridesmaids had their own opinions and I actually dropped a bridesmaid because she kept saying she wouldn’t wear the dress. It’s about me not her so she had to go. I knew she would end up being a problem.
Budget: My fiancé has a problem with my spending so instead of arguing I let him set the budget. Money equals problems for us.
The Groom: My groom is perfect! However we fight often over dumb stuff. He thinks I have made this day my life and thinks I’m over doing the wedding. So he just decided to let me do all thee planning and he just shows up.
Wedding Party: My fiancé and I have fought over whom to include in the wedding because I was hesitant over including his sister at first because we weren’t close. He did not include any of my brothers in his party. So I will have my 4 brothers standing in the isle as my uncle walks me down the aisle. And His sister is now my maid of honor. So we are both happy.
What’s the story of how you got engaged? September 8, 2009, our 5 year anniversary, he officially proposed!!! He took me to Casino Morongo in Palm Springs, California. He left my batteries for my camera upstairs in our room on purpose. He sent me to get them and when I turned on the light and on the bed was 2 champagne glasses with the ring in one glass and little note papers that said. “You” “Me” “Us Forever?” “Check Yes or NO”. It was so creative, and amazing. It would have been 10 times better if he would have wrote it in crayon.
What do you love the most about your husband-to-be? Honestly I love how he makes my heart beat fast and melt the same way it did from day 1, 6 years later. He and I are each others 1st TRUE loves and its very special. We are high school sweethearts and he is my night in shining armor. I love how he is patient with me and he deals with my crap. He finds a way to keep me feeling special everyday. He supports my dreams and me. He sacrifices for us and makes me priority. I honestly don’t deserve such an amazing man but he chose me and wants no one else, and neither do I. He is amazing, an entrepreneur, successful, and has goals in his life. He has morals and values and is passionate about many things that I am as well and he just make my life worth living. I LOVE HIM MORE THAN ANY THING! He treats me like his queen and he is my king. Not to mention he is so attractive to me it’s not even funny!
What’s your biggest pet peeve about your husband to be? MIKE SLEEPS FOREVER! HE HAS TO RUN EVERYTHING! AND IS ALWAYS RIGHT. He isn’t very lovey-dovey and affectionate in public and it irritates the hell out of me! Especially because in that case I am the complete opposite.
When you disagree, what is it usually about, and how do you handle it? When we disagree it’s usually over me cleaning and money, or him running things. Usually we fight and make up over me being a baby and telling him how much I love him and how sorry I am then its all good.
What disagreements have come up about the wedding? I have a niece that Mike thinks takes all my attention and that I will drop everything I’m doing for. We fight every time I say her name. I want her to be my flower girl and I had to fight my ass of but I got my way. I wanted really girly invitations and he put his foot down and our invitations are simple. I wanted to get married on the beach but mike hates the beach so I had to fight for that and lose!
Has the engagement/wedding ever been called off, or in jeopardy? If so, what happened and how did it get resolved? I decided to look at Mike's text messages and question him and he called it off because he said I didn’t respect him and I had insecurities so I wasn’t ready. Again I cried and said sorry and got my way! I called off the wedding because Mike decided to yell at me about cleaning and didn’t want to let me start planning so I said he was playing games and didn’t want to really get married because he took my ring. It was resolved by him giving my ring back!!!
In what ways have you shown Bridezilla behavior during the wedding planning? I was so upset that a bridesmaid was mad with what her dress looked liked. I decided to give her the boot because I'm already stressed. So I kicked her out of my wedding. Then she apologized so I let her back in just because our mothers are like sisters. This was until I went hunting for my wedding dress and she flat out told me that my dress was ugly so, she just had to go.
When things aren’t going your way in regards to how you want your wedding, how do you handle it?
When things don’t go my way I just become so angry. I cry, yell and just post all of my emotions on facebook. Mike reads them and gets irritated but seriously this is going to be the most perfect day of my life. So whatever way I need to vent, he just needs to deal with it.
