The Demon Who Came In From The Cold
A street PROPHET walks down the street, ranting about ‘the thorn is coming’ at the same time that Cole and Phoebe walk and discuss making a potion to strip him of his powers. Demon TRIGG shimmers in and kills Prophet and is about to kill Phoebe as well, but she kills him first. Afterwards, Cole stands there stunned and tells her that Trigg was his brother.
Phoebe works on a potion to strip Cole’s power when he tells her that he’ll need them while he’s gone to find out what kind of scheme the Brotherhood, an elite gang founded by the Source, is planning next. He tells her that he’ll check in by the mausoleum every few hours, being that it’s the safest place to be after her.
Cole/Belthazor shows the Brotherhood Prophet’s head as proof that he’s still loyal to them. He gets no information about their next scheme and the leader, VORNAC, orders TARKIN to keep an eye on Cole until KLEA returns.
The sisters figure out that the Brotherhood is trying to force FRANK PIRELLI’s company to merge with another one so they can take over. Pirelli doesn’t want the merger to go through, but Cole finds out that the Brotherhood wants to kill Pirelli in order to make the deal solid. They want Cole to prove his loyalty even further by carrying out the murder.
With Vornac watching, Cole is forced to shoot an energy ball at Pirelli’s car. As planned, Piper freezes the action and rescues Pirelli. Phoebe places a note in Cole’s pocket then exits with Pirelli and Piper. At the same time, Vornac morphs into Pirelli and shimmers into the scene and throws himself from the car just as the fireball hits and explodes the car. Security scoops up Vornac/Pirelli and takes him to safety.
Still posing as Pirelli, Vornac announces to the media that he changed his mind and will merge with the other company. Later, he finds out from Klea that the real body of Pirelli cannot be found. Vornac feels that Cole betrayed them, but Cole convinces them to let him find the body, as the sisters may have intervened. Vornac orders Klea to help Cole and to kill him if he’s found cohorting with them.
