Charmed Again, Part I

Using magic, Piper is in the attic emotionally trying to bring back her sister Prue from the dead. She feels their book of magic has deserted them and feels powerless. Phoebe is more realistic and tries to convince Piper that Prue is really gone. As they leave the attic, their book blows open and lands open on the page with the spell ‘To Call A Lost Witch.’
We see a young woman (Paige) at her desk in the office of social services. Strange happenings begin around her and a candle blows out and a newspaper lands at her feet open to Prue Halliwell’s obituary. Paige grabs her bag and leaves the office.
The day of the funeral, Cole returns and reminds the girls that they are not The Charmed Ones any longer – they need The Power of 3. He does not want to attend the funeral because the bounty hunter demons are after him and he does not want to disrupt the event. Phoebe convinces him to attend for her sake. Piper cannot handle the loss of her sister and asks Leo why he did not save Prue instead of her. He says the elders did not have the power to help Prue yet Piper still thinks Leo should have healed Prue and not her.
The Source [of all evil] is warned by his future visionary that a 3rd witch is being summoned.
At the funeral Paige, moves ahead in the receiving line and expresses her condolences. Phoebe asks her how she knew Prue. Paige gives a very vague answer. When they shake hands however, Phoebe gets a powerful premonition and ‘sees’ Paige being attacked by the same demon who killed Prue. Bounty hunters show up at the funeral and a fight ensues. Piper screams at everyone to stop and let her bury Prue in peace.
Back at the house, Phoebe desperately searches for Paige. Piper questions why they must continue their destiny of helping innocents now that Prue is gone. After all, they can’t defeat evil without The Power of 3. Phoebe still wants to try and cannot let an innocent girl die. Darryl brings Inspector Cortez by the house to meet the girls as Cortez has been newly assigned to the murder investigation. Both Phoebe and the girls’ father brush him off. Piper goes back to the attic trying desperately to talk to Prue. She summons their Grandmother, Grams, instead. Piper asks about Prue and Grams assures her that she and their mother are taking good care of Prue. The girls are not allowed to see each other yet because it will keep everyone from moving on emotionally and from completing their destiny. Grams explains that there is always a reason for everything and that Piper’s destiny still waits.
