The all-knowing Seer advises The Source that she has seen his destruction at the hands of The Charmed Ones. This prompts him to want to obtain the ultimate power, The Hollow, regardless of its disastrous powers. The Seer warns that if The Hollow is unleashed witches will become powerless and It could destroy all life as it is known.
Piper is planning for the future and wants Leo to be the sisters’ beneficiary. Phoebe and Cole discover a spell that calls all Halliwell power from history and they feel this will be the way to vanquish The Source once and for all. As Phoebe touches Cole she sees a premonition of his death – while trying to protect her from a frightening demon’s fireball. Her plan is to get to the demon without Cole knowing and destroy him with the help of her sisters.
Paige and Darryl are very involved in a case helping an abuse victim named Caroline; she is trying to regain custody of her son.
While Good and Evil play chess outside the crypt they protect, The Source appears and destroys Good. The Source succeeds in opening the ancient burial ground of The Hollow and retrieves the box in which it is housed. He uses it to take control of Evil and sends him out to consume The Charmed Ones powers and bring them back to help strengthen The Source.
As Phoebe searches The Book of Shadows for the demon she saw in her premonition Evil shows up and attacks her. As she and Piper attack, Evil absorbs their powers and renders them helpless. Hurt in the attack, Leo heals Phoebe. Evil is depicted in The Book of Shadows as one of the guardians of The Hollow and the group realizes that The Source is using his form. The only way to vanquish this released demonic behavior is to have representatives of good and evil unite and work together to contain The Hollow. When Cole returns to the manor, Phoebe fills him in on her premonition and he identifies the demon she saw in her premonition as The Source, himself.
The Source continues to ignore The Seer’s warnings about the danger The Hollow poses if it gains too much strength. He releases another demon to take away Leo’s powers so The Charmed Ones have no healer. A potion concocted by Piper successfully vanquishes the demon but not before fatally wounding Leo.
All of a sudden The Seer can see nothing in the future, all of life has been consumed. She realizes she must band together with another to recapture The Hollow and restore life as it is meant to be. She chooses Cole/Balthazar and summons him to the underworld. She convinces him that together they can defeat The Source and return The Hollow to its crypt. Cole absorbs the powers from The Hollow after making sure life will return to its proper state once the task it completed.
