Trial By Magic

Piper and Paige try to get Phoebe to tell them about the case she hearing while on jury duty, she refuses. Paige’s best friend, Glenn, comes to town. Paige says he can stay at the manor but Piper and Leo warn her that revealing their secrets could be dangerous. At the courthouse Phoebe and the jurors hear closing arguments. The defendant, Stan, is a magician on trial for murdering his wife, Angie. His only defense is that a premonition he had helped him lead the police to the body. The murder weapon was a knife he uses in his stage act. As the knife is passed among the jurors Phoebe puts her hands on it and gets a vision – the murderer has a tattoo of Medusa on his forearm. She looks to the defendant and sees his arm does not have such a tattoo. In the jury room the first vote is 11 to 1 guilty; Phoebe is the hold out. She excuses herself to use the restroom and summons Leo to orb her to the manor. She tells her sisters the story, apologizes for not believing the man was anything more than a club magician and a phony, and suggests they enlist Darryl’s help. Back in the jury room she tries to stall a very hostile jury by stating the defendant may truly be psychic.
Glenn decides to hang out at the manor because he is very tired from his travels. He is concerned with Paige’s new life and the strange happenings he sees/hears in the house. Leo reminds Paige once again that she must keep their secret to protect each other.
Leo and Piper have succeeded in getting Darryl to vouch for them and go to see Stan in prison, much against his lawyer’s wishes. They tell Stan they believe in his premonitions and this leads Stan to explain that it was Andrew Wyke, the magic club’s owner, who killed his wife. Angie had discovered that Wyke was laundering money through the club and threatened to expose him. Wyke framed Stan. Piper and Leo go to the club and see that Wyke has the tattoo of Medusa on his forearm.
Back in the jury room Phoebe continues to stall playing on people’s belief in angels, premonitions, feelings, etc. Most are beginning to think she is crazy. Piper and Leo show up in the bathroom and tell her they have found the murderer. Leo suggests Piper and Paige go to Wyke and use their magic to get him to confess. Paige is confused as to how they can show their magic in public yet she cannot share the information with her best friend. She is reminded that an innocent’s life is at stake.
Glenn has found his way to the attic and is perusing through The Book of Shadows when Paige finds him. He expresses grave concern that her newfound sisters have brainwashed her into the occult. She tries to explain that the sisters only perform good magic. Paige finds a spell that will help Glenn stretch his imagination and accept their witchcraft. It doesn’t work on his imagination however; he now can literally stretch his body parts.
