Still struggling with unexpected expenses, Todd and Laura realize that the kids have slipped back into their very ‘kid-like’ wasteful ways. Rolls of paper towel, toilet paper, kilowatts of electricity, tons of food, gallons of milk. All seems to disappear way too fast. On top of the wastefulness, Todd observes a moment of conflict where it seems all the kids are arguing about cleaning up after only themselves. If Heather used a knife, she might put it in the sink, but not touch the fork sitting next to it, since Danielle used it. Hoping to capitalize on a “teachable moment,” Todd declares a state of “Fend For Yourself” and as “Diktator” withdraws all free aid to all the kids. Everyone is given $20 to last them for two days. From that money, they must supply all of their own food, as well as rent life’s necessities (such as shelter, water, electricity and even toilet paper) from Todd.
Flush with the $20, all rush to the grocery store to get the essentials (such as peanut butter and frozen pizza) but they all spend too much money and aren’t prepared for the other surprises that Diktator Todd has in store for them. A Todd “FUN TAX” (which is no fun at all) as well as other fees imposed by Laura, leads to all the kids going into the red. They have to spend the night in a tent to save money- but some of them sneak into the house and the comfort of their own bed. But in the morning they are caught and more fines are heaped on. The “kid debt” is spiraling out of control. The only way out? No choice but the dreaded “chores."
