Walk MS — Team Brumsey
A Personal Message from Laura Bruce

It wasn’t easy acknowledging my battle with MS on national TV. When we first started filming, I actually hid my disease from the producers. Only my close friends and family even knew I had MS and I had no intention of being public with it anytime soon. However, as the filming of Downsized progressed, I realized that in order to be honest and fair to the viewers who were investing their time to watch our show, I would have to reveal the whole truth about my health.

Being healthy and fit has always been a priority to me and after being diagnosed with MS, I have felt somewhat betrayed by my own body. I have to admit, I’m still not 100% comfortable talking about my experience with it but I’m slowly finding it easier to open up, thanks to my family, friends and Downsized viewers who have been amazingly supportive. I am hopeful that my experience will open the doors for others that are keeping their disease a secret, like I was.

Lastly, I want to thank our viewers for being so positive and for sharing their stories. I gained my strength from you and without this show I would still be alone in this experience.

My next step will be participating in the Phoenix Multiple Sclerosis walk on November 5th. I am proud to say my family and I will be walking (or running) together to help raise awareness and generate some donations so that a cure for this disease will be discovered in the near future. We would love to have Downsized viewers join our team or donate money to this worthy cause! CLICK HERE for information!

And please share your well-wishes below...
