Kenny On The Couch
After finalizing his divorce, Kenny struggles with a deep depression. Frasier offers to refer him to a good psychiatrist, but Kenny doesn’t want to discuss his problems with anyone except Frasier. Despite his longstanding objection to counsel co-workers, Frasier agrees to help.
After several intense sessions of delving into Kenny’s past, Frasier is elated to discover that his relationship problems stem from a childhood-parent trauma. However, he is so caught up with his findings that Frasier fails to recognize Kenny’s increasing miserable state.
For the first time since the divorce, Kenny finally finds a ray of hope when he takes Martin’s advice to get out more. After a few beers at McGinty’s and hanging out together, Kenny realizes Martin was right and breaks the news to Frasier that he doesn’t need his help anymore.
Frasier takes the news hard and blames Martin for corrupting his patient with shallow advice. However, Martin helps him realize that Kenny isn’t the only person that has problems and encourages him to return to what he truly enjoys—one-on-one therapy.
Meanwhile, Daphne and Niles hire a renowned yoga instructor, Ahmrit (guest star Alan Cumming), for private lessons. Although he refuses to admit it, Niles is jealous of Daphne’s natural ability and turns it into a competition, only to end up in severe pain.
