Some Assembly Required
Frasier’s coaxed into building a house for Habitat for Humanity with his coworkers. Even though he turns out to be more of a burden than a help, Frasier takes undeserved credit for the finished project. In fact, he grows so attached to the house that when the Grant family moves, he becomes an unsolicited interior decorator.
After several frequent stops and unwanted advice, the Grant family gets so annoyed with Frasier that they kindly show him the door. Roz later questions his strange obsession with the house and Frasier admits that it is the only thing he’s ever built, even though he barely hung a door.
After Martin and Eddie give a safety presentation at the school for career day, they are such a hit that they are asked back for a fourth grade assembly, which Niles warns is the cruelest grade. Before the assembly, Martin comes down with a fever and a reluctant Niles is forced to take over. When he nearly gets booed off the stage, Niles blames the kids for his father’s illness, then gives a lecture about germs and bug-infested foods. The kids are so grossed out that they can’t help but love it, and even give him a standing ovation.
Roz accompanies Frasier to apologize to the Grants for intruding. While they show off their house with pride, Frasier is horrified at the sight of their cow motif and purple walls, but he manages to refrain from criticism. Meanwhile, Daphne gets into an argument with Mrs. Moon about contributing more around the house. Out of spite, Mrs. Moon takes a job as a waitress at Café Nervosa and tries to embarrass Daphne for making an old lady work, but her guilt trip doesn’t work.
