The Devil And Dr. Phil
Dr. Phil McGraw is in Seattle for an event. Although he and Frasier are old friends, Frasier’s still bitter with him for supposedly swindling him out of $200 in a poker game years back. To appease a star-struck Roz, Fraiser agrees to contact him to get backstage passes. Dr. Phil and Frasier engage in pleasant small talk backstage while Roz can hardly contain her enthusiasm. Frasier is speechless and grows envious when he discovers that his unstable ex-agent, Bebe Glazer, is now representing the incredibly successful Dr. Phil. Frasier can’t help but second-guess his decision to replace her and is desperate to win her back.
Later, an over-dramatic Bebe shows up at Frasier’s place to return a box of files and agrees to meet with him to discuss possible business opportunities. Niles warns Frasier that Bebe’s seductive nature is dangerous, but Frasier is blinded by fame and fortune. When Frasier arrives at Bebe’s hotel suite, he’s frightened by her aggressiveness and runs out in a panic.
Daphne and Niles live vicariously through a romantic elderly couple at Café Nervosa, whom they view as an older version of themselves. Their foreshadow is shattered, however, when another woman shows up claiming to be the old man’s wife. Meanwhile, Martin is unfairly assigned the graveyard shift after refusing to go on a date with his boss’s sister. In an effort to stay awake, he shreds his necktie for entertainment and accidentally sets the trash can on fire. When the boss catches him goofing off, Martin agrees to go on the date to avoid inevitable wrath.
Bebe finds Frasier at Café Nervosa and tells him that she is dropping Dr. Phil to represent him instead because she prefers a challenge. Frasier excitedly agrees to her terms, even though she increases the fee and drops one of his newest stations. Little does Frasier know that she was never Dr. Phil’s agent—Dr. Phil just played along with her scheme to clear his debt from a poker game.
