The Doctor Is Out
Frasier and Niles run into a renowned Seattle opera icon, Alistair (Patrick Stewart guest stars), at Café Nervosa. Star-struck, Frasier strikes up conversation with the legend, but is virtually ignored. When Roz introduces her pretty-boy boyfriend, Barry, Frasier and Niles suspect he’s gay. Roz is appalled by their accusations and insists otherwise.
Walking home from the gym, Frasier and Niles see Barry disappear around the corner and assume he went into the gay bar. To prove his intuitions were correct, Frasier enters the bar, while Niles waits outside. Moments later, Barry emerges from an apartment and Niles gasps! He rushes in to tell Frasier their mistake, but leads the bar-goers to believe he is “with” Frasier.
Rumors of Frasier being gay spread like wildfire. Suddenly, Alistair befriends Frasier and invites him to exclusive functions. Martin and Niles warn him that Alistair wants more than a friendship, but Frasier refuses to see it. At an exclusive party, everyone is under the impression that Frasier and Alistair are a couple. When Alistair alludes to planning a romantic getaway, Frasier is forced to come clean; although reluctant to give up the perks of being the other half of a “power couple”.
