When Frasier tries to return a gift he purchased at a snobby boutique, the clerk at the store gives him a hard time. Luckily, a fellow shopper named Samantha Pierce steps in and gets Frasier the refund he deserves. Instantly smitten by Sam's beauty and intelligence, he asks her out to dinner.

While getting ready for his date with Sam, Frasier is stunned to see her as a guest on "Larry King Live." Unbeknownst to Frasier, Sam is a high-powered defense lawyer whose work and social circles include the rich, famous and powerful. Although sparks fly romantically between them, Frasier finds himself playing the more passive, feminine role in their affair.

When Frasier discusses his uncharacteristically "wimpy" behavior with Sam, she realizes that he's right. However, rather than breaking up, Frasier and Sam decide that their relationship is worth pursuing, and they plan to continue seeing each other.
