The Maris Counselor
In a final effort to save his marriage, Niles begins weekly counseling sessions with Maris and Dr. Bernard Schenkman. Niles enthusiastically tells Frasier that Dr. Schenkman is doing a great job, and confides that he's beginning to believe he might have a future with Maris after all.
That future is short-lived however, when Niles plans a romantic evening at home with Maris, and discovers she's having an affair with Schenkman. The next morning, a distraught Niles bursts into tears in front of several of his patients and Frasier, causing Frasier to ask everyone to step outside for a break while he finds out what’s going on.
Frasier tries to console Niles, who finally decides to give Maris one more chance. Later, Niles shows up at Frasier's apartment, explaining that he’s come to the realization that his marriage is over and that it's time to move on. Just then, Martin comes home from a date that didn't go the way he'd hoped, and the three Crane men commiserate with each other about the trials and tribulations of love.
