Decoys
The good news: Niles’ lawyer Donny negotiated Maris’ lakefront cottage as part of their divorce settlement. The bad news: Donny’s budding romance with Daphne seems to be blossoming. To take his mind off the situation, Niles invites Martin and Frasier to spend the weekend at the lake. They agree to meet Niles at the cottage after Martin’s dental appointment on Saturday.
At Café Nervosa, Roz is surprised to find out about Niles’ long-running crush on Daphne, then admits she misses Donny and wishes she never let her “ex” get away. A light bulb goes off in Niles’ mind. He invites Roz and her baby Alice up to the cottage – and secretly asks Donny to join them, hoping that Donny and Roz will rekindle their relationship.
Although Roz is angry with Niles for trying to push her back into Donny’s arms, she quickly warms to the idea. Everything’s going according to plan – until Frasier and Martin arrive a day early, and wonder what Roz is doing there. To cover his tracks, Niles pretends to be having an affair with her. Just then, Daphne shows up unexpectedly, and to the chagrin of both Roz and Niles, Donny and Daphne happily depart to spend the weekend at a nearby inn.
