The Dinner Party
Eager to get to know the Ashbys, a prominent society couple, Frasier decides to throw a lavish dinner party, and asks Niles to co-host it with him. They choose a date that conflicts with Martin’s poker night, and after much arguing back and forth, Martin agrees to switch to his game to another day.
Of course, that’s not the only complicating factor. The Cranes’ top choice for a caterer is booked, so they call another chef. Niles and Frasier also bicker about which couples to invite. Yet when they finally agree on a guest list and phone the Ashbys, the Ashbys aren’t available so they must change the date of the party. This conflicts with both caterers’ calendars and with Martin, who is forced to reschedule his poker night once more.
Juggling caterers and invitees, the brothers Crane are horrified when they discover that the Duncans, who asked to bring a guest from Argentina, aren’t bringing a famous South American conductor as Frasier suspected, but are instead bringing their foster child. Stuck with a third-rate caterer, secondtier guests and a “pass” by the Ashbys, Frasier and Niles opt to cancel the entire event.
