The Show Where Woody Shows Up
While Roz copes with the unwanted affections of a nerdy co-worker named Noel, Frasier takes a call during his show from his Boston buddy Woody Boyd, who’s in town for a wedding. Frasier invites Woody over for pizza and beer, and they have fun rehashing the good old days at the Cheers bar. Before Woody leaves to return to his hotel, they make plans to meet for lunch the next day.
After having lunch with Woody, Frasier realizes they have nothing in common except for stories about things they did 10 years ago in Boston. Yet just when he thinks he’s rid of him, Woody asks Frasier where they’ll be having dinner that night. Desperate for a break, Frasier begs Roz and Niles to come along, but they beg off, and Frasier is stuck going to a karaoke bar with Woody, Noel and radio personality Gil Chesterton.
Frasier is miserable after agreeing to take a harbor cruise with Woody the following day. Martin advises Frasier to just lie and tell Woody he can’t make it. Fortunately, Woody stops by to say he’s been called back to Boston and must leave immediately. Frasier and Niles celebrate by going out for dinner and to his surprise, Frasier sees Woody there. Woody reveals that he’s didn’t want to hurt Frasier’s feelings, but felt they didn’t have anything in common anymore. Relieved, the two old pals toast their friendship.
