Everyone’s a Critic
As a favor to KACL’s owner, Mrs. De lafield, Frasier agrees to have dinner wi th her daughter, Poppy. Just back from Europe, Poppy is an annoying chatterbox who’s looking to find her career niche at one of her mother’s stations. Although Poppy admires Frasier’s show, she claims she’d “freeze” if she ever had to perform on the air.
A small emergency calls Frasier home, leaving Roz to entertain Poppy. At the apartment, Niles announces that he’s just been hired as the arts critic for The Monocle, a snotty local publication. Although Frasier claims he’s not envious of Niles’ high-profile gig, he later confesses to Roz that he’s going to “pitch” the idea of hosting a new arts program on KACL.
To Frasier’s chagrin, the only way to make his dream a reality is by promising Poppy a co-hosting role so that her mother will green-light the idea. When Niles hears about the show , he’s upset, but that’s nothing compared to what Frasier goes through when Poppy takes charge of their program and spouts her ditzy opinions. In the end, both Frasier and Niles lose their arts gigs, but restore their sibling relations.
