Morning Becomes Entertainment
It’s contract negotiation time, and the station is playing hardball with Frasier. Hoping to prove to KACL what a valuable talent he is, Frasier agrees to co-host a fluffy morning TV show called “AM Seattle,” promising to make it a more thought-provoking program under his auspices.
Despite Niles’ accusations that Frasier’s only doing “AM Seattle” because he’s an “applause junkie,” Frasier arrives at the studio determined to do a serious show. Roz is supposed to co-host with him, but a bad case of the flu has left her incapacitated. Instead, Frasier’s pushy agent, Bebe, talks her way into the job.
To Frasier’s surprise, he relishes the recognition he gets from hosting a popular, albeit lightweight, television show . Yet, when Frasier learns that Be be is jeopardizing his radio negotiations to score a permanent TV gig, he promises Roz he’ll drop “AM Seattle.” Still, Frasier has a tough time walking away from the TV limelight—until Niles reminds Frasier that his true calling is psychiatry, not television.
