A Day In May
While Frasier teaches Lana a lesson in honesty, Niles becomes jealous of Daphne’s dog park friend, and Martin confronts his past.
With Roz’s car in the shop, Frasier reluctantly lends his prized BMW to Roz and her toddler, Alice. Because Martin left the apartment early that morning without explaining where he was going, Daphne and Niles head off to the dog park to exercise Eddie, while Frasier awaits the arrival of Lana, who wants him to do some additional tutoring with her son, Kirby.
At the park, Daphne runs into Jim, a handsome fellow dog owner. Daphne introduces Niles as her boyfriend, leading Jim to express chagrin that he and Daphne have never been single at the same time. Across town, Lana drags Frasier to the showing of a home she’s been trying to sell for a year. Unfortunately, the property owner, Phillip, is so depressed over his divorce, he’s been driving away buyers. After he trudges off to work, Lana and Frasier accidentally smash a treasured Popsicle house Phillip made with his son, and they rush to repair it.
Jealous of Jim, Niles makes Daphne promise that she’ll never come to the dog park again – a vow that becomes a moot point after Daphne reveals Jim’s plans to move to Chile. Despite Lana’s eagerness to sell Phillip’s house, Frasier forces her to come clean with the buyers about a flooding problem in the basement. Meanwhile, Roz persuades Alice not to tell “Uncle Frasier” that she vomited in his BMW! Finally, Martin’s mystery trip turns out to be a parole hearing for David Hicks, the man who shot him in the hip. As Hicks’ anguished mother looks on, his request is denied.
