And the Dish Ran Away With the Spoon (Part Two)
Forced to masquerade as Mel’s happily married husband, Niles must cancel a date with Daphne to attend his own wedding reception. It’s all part of Mel’s plan to avoid social humiliation by waiting a few weeks to grant Niles a divorce. Niles manages to play the dutiful mate at the party, but is shocked when Mel orders him to stay away from Daphne until after their decree is final.
When Niles tells Daphne they can’t be seen together for a while, she loses it. Before long, both she and Niles take their frustration out on Frasier, whom they blame for interfering in their lives. A wounded Frasier claims he was only trying to help, and although Daphne apologizes to him, Frasier vows he’ll never get involved with Niles and Daphne’s affairs again.
“Never” turns out to be a short time later. Unable to take Daphne out on the town, Niles asks Martin to join him for dinner. Instead, Martin takes Niles up to the roof of Frasier’s building, where Frasier has arranged a romantic and private evening for Niles and Daphne, complete with a catered feast and dancing under the stars.
