Cranes Unplugged
Hoping to bond with his teenage son, Frasier enlists Martin to join them on a multi-generational camping trip.
Visiting his dad in Seattle, 13-year-old Frederick Crane is more interested in MTV and phoning his pals back in Boston than hanging out with Frasier. In the meantime, Daphne plays matchmaker between Roz and Niles’ squash partner, a handsome surgeon named Jack.
Eager to “unplug” Frederick from his preoccupation with electronic toys and modern conveniences, Frasier forces Frederick and Martin to accompany him on a camping trip. Back in the city, Jack is paged for a medical emergency minutes after meeting Roz, which she assumes is just an excuse to dump her because he finds her unattractive.
To Frasier’s dismay, Frederick spends most of the weekend with the other kids at the campsite. Niles and Daphne try to nurse Roz’s wounded ego by fixing her up with another friend, but Niles mistakenly chases him off, leaving Roz feeling worse than ever. In the end, Frasier’s dream of sharing quality time with his son is fulfilled after Frederick confides in Frasier that he’s just experienced his first kiss.
