Hungry Heart
Concerned about Daphne’s ballooning weight, Frasier broaches the topic with Niles, who seems oblivious to her rapidly expanding girth. Meanwhile, Frasier’s married boss, Kenny, is guilt-stricken after making a date with a sexy woman named Janis, so Frasier agrees to meet Janis and break up with her on Kenny’s behalf.
Unbeknownst to Frasier, Kenny’s wife overhears a message Janis left on Kenny’s answering machine. She confronts Janis at the café and orders her to leave. Seconds later, Frasier turns up and assumes that Kenny’s wife is Janis. Hurt by Kenny’s indiscretion, she goes along with the ruse, and even accepts Frasier’s consoling offer to buy her dinner. Back at home, Daphne twists her ankle. When it takes all three Crane men to lift her off the floor, she vows to go on a diet.
However, Daphne’s resolve soon weakens, and she begins stashing junk food everywhere. Not knowing “Janis” is married to Kenny, Frasier makes a second date with her. Before she arrives, Kenny pops in and tells Frasier he suspects his wife is having an affair. To his horror, Frasier realizes he’s “the other man.” Frasier manages to keep Kenny and his wife hidden in different rooms long enough to convince them to make up, then pretends to be seeing Roz on the sly to “cover” his date with Kenny’s mate. After Daphne’s “busted” sneaking food, she admits she needs help losing weight, so Niles and Frasier decide to send her to a spa.
