Love Stinks
Roz is embarrassed by her boyfriend’s job, while Frasier is eager to change his elitist image at work.
To his horror, Frasier discovers that everyone at the radio station thinks he’s a self-centered snob. Meanwhile, Roz is crazy about her new beau, Roger, but not crazy about his career as a garbage collector. Over at Frasier’s place, Daphne is delighted to find all sorts of silly mementos from Niles’ childhood in the boxes Martin is cleaning out of a storage closet.
Determined to show his colleagues that he’s just a regular guy, Frasier invites the staff to a party at his condo. Roz claims she doesn’t want to bring Roger because their relationship is still new, though Frasier suspects she’s uncomfortable with his blue-collar job. But later, moved by Roger’s devotion to her and her daughter Alice, Roz asks him to Frasier’s bash. At the event, Roger overhears Roz trying to skirt questions about what he does for a living, and he realizes she’s embarrassed by his career. His feelings clearly hurt, Roger walks out.
Frasier’s party gambit works. Suddenly, he’s Mr. Popular at KACL, yet he’s not sure he likes mixing with the masses. Roz admits she’s miserable without Roger, even if her snobby side can’t believe she’s fallen for a garbageman. After some co-workers approach Frasier about watching a boxing match, he rebuffs their offer and explains he’s really not interested in hanging out with them – ever. Niles tries without success to get Daphne to stop gushing over his boyhood relics. Alice’s affection for Roger drives Roz to apologize and ask for a second chance. Happily, they seal their reconciliation with a kiss.
