The Two Hundredth Episode
Frasier celebrates his 2000th show with the help of Bill Gates and an overly zealous fan.
Seattle’s favorite radio shrink marks his milestone broadcast with special bloopers chosen by his listeners. Former KACL personality “Bulldog” Briscoe stops by the studio to congratulate Frasier – and to make a pitch for the return of his sports program. To hype the event to the hilt, Kenny, the station manager, arranges for Microsoft chairman Bill Gates to appear on the 2000th show.
To Frasier’s dismay, the switchboard is flooded with calls from computer fans eager to discuss Microsoft products instead of Frasier’s anniversary. That evening, Frasier is upset when he discovers there’s one tape missing from his collection of all 2000 broadcasts. Daphne admits she destroyed the cassette by mistake, but Frasier becomes fixated on restoring his “perfect” collection. As a result, he issues an onair plea to anyone in his audience who may have recorded the lost show.
Frasier’s compulsive quest to find the tape worries Martin, Niles and Daphne, who are relieved when Tom (Special Guest Star Adam Arkin), an avid fan, offers to give Frasier a copy of the broadcast. Yet when Niles and Frasier go to retrieve it, Tom’s rabid obsession with Frasier’s program makes Frasier realize he really doesn’t need every single show on tape after all. Frasier’s perfectionism returns with a vengeance when, back at home, he notices a crack in a piece of pottery Martin accidentally knocked over. As Frasier begins to lecture Martin, Niles and Daphne, they sneak out of the room to escape his tirade.
