Wheels Of Fortune
Frasier suspects a “con is on” when Lilith’s shifty half-brother comes to Seattle.
Years earlier, Frasier’s former brother-in-law, Blaine Sternin (Special Guest Star Michael Keaton), stole his 18th-century salt server. Out of the blue, Frasier receives a message from Blaine, as well as a package containing the antique. Worse yet, Blaine wants to get together, and Frasier is sure he’s up to no good. After all, Lilith’s half-sibling is a notorious flimflam artist.
To everyone’s surprise, Blaine shows up in a wheelchair. He explains that a drunk driving accident has left him paralyzed from the waist down, but with a new career as an evangelist. Frasier is deeply skeptical of Blaine’s supposed religious conversion. Hoping to prove himself to Frasier, Blaine invites Martin, Niles, Daphne and Frasier to watch him preach that weekend.
Determined to expose Sternin as a fraud, Frasier disrupts the prayer service, insists Blaine is faking his paralysis, and throws him out of his wheelchair. Just then, Frasier’s cell phone rings. It’s Sternin’s doctor, finally calling Frasier back to confirm that Blaine really is paralyzed. Aghast, Frasier vows to match every donation Blaine receives. Only after handing over the cash and discovering Sternin’s abandoned wheelchair in the hallway does Frasier realize he’s been scammed again.
