The L.A. Hair finale is this Thursday, which means it’s time to say goodbye to Kim Kimble, her wacky cast of co-workers and her stylin’ celebrity clients. But before you part with Kim, Jasmine and the rest of the crew, here are 9 ways to get ready for the finale.
1. Get your hair done
Of course, the No. 1 thing you must do before the L.A. Hair finale is… get your hair done! Head out to your local salon and get a new cut, color, extensions, weave or whatever excites you (and even scares you a little).
2. Give someone ELSE a makeover
Kim believes that beautiful hair is VERY important to a woman’s self-esteem. So tag along with a friend as SHE gets a makeover, and offer some (constructive!) tips along the way.
3. Bond with your mom
This season, Kim’s mom confessed to years of drug addiction and gang affiliation. Kim admitted that she’s still hurt and angry about her mom’s behavior, even though the pain of her childhood helped make her into the successful woman she is today. Let’s face it: Even if you don’t have a perfectly harmonious relationship with your mom, she’s still the only one you’ve got! Give her a call and tell her how much you love her, no matter what.
4. Start your own business
It’s so empowering to see a woman like Kim launch her own business. Have you been dreaming about starting your own cupcake company or party planning biz? There’s no time like the present!
5. Be an “Independent Woman”
This season, Kim worked with multi-platinum recording artist Kelly Rowland; she’s also styled Kelly’s former Destiny’s Child band mate, the one and only Beyonce. In honor of the finale, try long, straight, blonde hair a la Beyonce (or even the braids she’s been wearing recently), or go big and curly like Kelly.
6. Get your Omarosa on
Reality TV villain Omarosa dropped by Kim’s studio, and then told off Charity for not knowing who she was! Omarosa then complained that Anthony doesn’t know how to do a black woman’s hair. While Omarosa is obnoxious, sometimes it’s cathartic just to let all out. So speak your mind, and never settle for less than the best!
7. Make a Mary J. playlist
This season, Kim helped R&B queen Mary J. Blige find just the right style for her performance — which left us wanting more Mary, please! Our favorite Mary tune is still “Real Love”; Kim is a huge fan of Mary’s hairstyle on “The Breakthrough” album cover. Go back in time and make a playlist of your favorite Mary songs!
8. Plan a karaoke night
Kim also styled R&B icons Brandy and Monica for a music video — and their duet, “The Boy Is Mine,” happens to be our favorite song to sing with a girlfriend at karaoke. Plan a fun night out, and don’t worry if your singing is off-key!
9. Get together with your co-workers
When things get tense around the salon, Kim invites her stylists out for drinks and hors d’oeuvres. There’s no better way to break the ice with your co-workers than to hang out AFTER work, preferably over a few cocktails. So what are you waiting for — time for happy hour!
