Kim Kimble

My name is Kim Kimble, celebrity hairstylist, beauty expert, and entrepreneur. I have been gifted in developing a niche for creating scene-stealing, high concept looks adorned by the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, the late Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Jada Pinkett-Smith and more.  My innovative styles and techniques have been featured internationally in the pages of fashion and beauty’s chicest titles –from Vanity Fair and Allure to InStyle, Essence, Glamour, Elle and Vogue.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with iconic fashion photographers: Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, and Matthew Jordan Smith, and my work has appeared in national ad campaigns for blue chip brands including Pepsi, Neutrogena, Nike, CoverGirl, McDonald’s and L’Oreal.  In addition to my work behind the scenes, I have served as an industry expert in front of the camera on numerous television shows, including “Oprah,” “How Do I Look?” and “Shear Genius,” to name a few.

Having started as a shampoo girl for my mother growing up around the family’s Los Angeles salon, I am a third-generation hair stylist who originally aspired to become a fashion designer. After attending the famed Bronner Brothers hair show where I was exposed to the amazing styling feats and showmanship of the hair technicians on stage, my path changed.  In that moment, I knew I wanted to design hair.  I focused on pursuing a formal education in hair care, training professionally at both Vidal Sassoon Academy and Dudley Cosmetology University in North Carolina.

I got my big break when film producer Robert Townsend hired me as key hair stylist on the movie “BAPS” starring Halle Berry. The elaborate hairpieces that I designed for the film captured the attention of Hollywood executives and talent, which led to gigs working with Brandy on “Moesha” and the TV movie “Cinderella;” “The Jamie Foxx Show;” “Two Can Play That Game;” and “Austin Powers Goldmember,” where my work with Beyonce became an ongoing collaboration.  I serve as primary stylist on the superstar’s movie, television and music projects.

Since then, I’ve beautified stars on such productions as Tim Story’s “Think Like A Man,” and the upcoming Debra Martin Chaseproduced “Sparkle,” slated for a 2012 premiere. Other film projects include “Dreamgirls,” “Something New,” “Obsessed,” “Johnson Family Vacation,” “Deliver Us From Eva,” “The Score,” “Ruby’s Bucket of Blood,” “Big Momma’s House” and “Next Friday” to name a few. The transition into film and television helped develop my enviable roster of notable personalities such as Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Williams, Venus and Serena Williams, Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Garcelle Beauvais, Eve, Keri Hilson and more.

In 2000, I opened my second salon, Kimble Hair Studio in West Hollywood, California and launched Kimble Hair Care Systems™, a full range hair care line designed to address the needs of women of color with various hair textures. In addition, I am currently developing Kimble Creations™, a collection of tools, accessories and hair extensions, an augmentation to the Kimble Hair Care Systems brand.  It is my philosophy that healthy hair and great style should coexist - thus, my products and tools are designed to work with a wide range of ethnic hair textures to create chic, yet manageable styles.

In between jet-setting across the globe to style my celebrity clients, I reside in Los Angeles with my 13-year-old son.
