Dan and Roseanne are shocked that Darlene has found a new friend.  Elated with this news, Roseanne figures it’s a good time to ask Dan if he wants a part-time job working at Rodbell’s as Santa Claus.  After Dan snubs his nose at the offer, Roseanne asks her boss, Leon, why she can’t be Santa.  Following some discussion, Leon gives in and Roseanne finally gets the job.  While on the job, she gets a chance to meet Darlene’s new friend.  She’s as old as Roseanne, has a kid, and owns a bookstore.  Not exactly what Roseanne expected.  Upset over the unlikely friendship, Roseanne goes to the bookstore to talk further with Darlene’s friend and gains some new insight into why Darlene’s been so reclusive.
