About Shannen Doherty
Shannen Doherty has been working steadily in the entertainment industry since Michael Landon discovered her in an episode of Father Murphy.
Landon cast her as Jenny Wilder when Doherty was just 11 years old in the series Little House: A New Beginning. She then went on to star in the series Our House with Wilford Brimley and Deidre Hall, and then in 1990, she starred as Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210.
Doherty has also had success in feature films, starring with Christian Slater and Winona Ryder in the 1989 black comedy Heathers; she starred with Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker in the teen comedy Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Ron Howard’s Night Shift and Mall Rats.
She garnered rave reviews for her performance in the title role as the famous Gone With the Wind author in the television movie A Burning Passion: The Margaret Mitchell Story, and starred opposite Antonio Sabato, Jr. in the Showtime original film Jailbreakers, directed by William Friedkin. Doherty also starred in the miniseries Gone in the Night and Robert Kennedy and His Times, as well as the television movies Sleeping With the Devil, The Ticket, Friends ‘Til the End, and Satan’s School for Girls. Doherty made her directorial debut with the second season finale of CHARMED.
Doherty lives in Los Angeles and enjoys horseback riding when she's not busy working.
