As an actor and comedian, Sinbad arrived on the scene with a “hit’em in the face” style of comedy that has kept audiences laughing for more than two decades. Sinbad’s story-based humor arises from everyone he meets, everything he’s seen, and everything he’s done.
Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the Top 100 Stand-up Comedians of all time, Sinbad uses the tribulations of everyday life as the basis for his comedy and takes pride in sounding profound without being profane, a result of his upbringing as a preacher’s son. As a former basketball player for the University of Denver, Sinbad believes everything he needed to know for comedy he learned from basketball, particularly “the competitive aspect that teaches you to never give up.”
He’s also a self-proclaimed closet nerd, acting as a Master of Technology for private client events for Apple, Microsoft, Intel Corporation and Breakaway Technologies. A spokesperson for the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), Sinbad believes no one should be left behind in training and education. He encourages minorities to pursue studies in science, math and engineering and has established an academic scholarship at Atlanta’s esteemed Moorehouse College.
Sinbad has starred in films such as Jingle All the Way, Houseguest, First Kid, Necessary Roughness, Good Burger and more. He has also starred in the television sitcom “A Different World,” his own series, “The Sinbad Show,” and hosted the talk show “Vibe.” Additional appearances include Showtime’s “Resurrection Blvd,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and season three of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” Some of his other projects include: comedy specials for Comedy Central and HBO including “Where U Been??,” “Brain Damaged,” “Afros & Bellbottoms,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” and “Nuthin But the Funk; a self-help book titled Sinbad’s Guide to Life: (Because I Know Everything); and his HBO music concert series “Sinbad’s 70’s Soul Music Festival,” which twice received the prestiguous NAACP Image Awards for “Most Outstanding Variety Series/Special.”
Sinbad has also performed at numerous USO tours, including the USO of Hampton Roads 2006 Patriotic Festival.
