Season 1, Episode 5
Vinny gets a taste of star power when a local magazine interviews him for an article and orders a cake for their launch party. Vinny is star struck, especially when he meets a Staten Island celebrity who is back after a stint at the Jersey shore.
Vinny’s notoriety on New York’s second most famous island has been growing faster than he can say fondant and now some important people are taking notice. He starts to get a little taste of star power when Courtenay Hall from Bella magazine, a local fashion and luxury publication, offers to do a spread on The Cake Artist. The magazine profiles Vinny as a young businessman running an even younger business, and when the flashbulbs go off, he gets all starry eyed at the promise of increasing his business fivefold. He won’t be the only one who sees the shoot as a golden opportunity; however, as the magazine owners see his work and ask him to make a cake for their launch party. Vinny realizes he is ill prepared to shine at the photo shoot when he goes through his entire closet and comes up empty handed.
It’s time for him to dress himself like he dresses his cakes, but, since he is not the best shopper he hires a pair of personal assistants/stylists to do his shopping for him: Cammy and Spiro! Together, they team up to find Vinny the hippest clothes that only a celebrity would wear, but Vinny isn’t quite up to the challenge of dressing for success. He figures he needs a lesson or two in being a celebrity, and just his luck, in walks one of Staten Island’s most infamous stars. When Kristin does her hair, Angelina Pivarnick of the Jersey Shore, tells her about her pre-release party for her new single. She promises Kristin that the party and single will be the best she has ever been involved with, the only problem is that she doesn’t yet have a cake to celebrate.
Luckily for Vinny, Kristin doesn’t miss a beat and jumps at the opportunity to get some business for her big brother. Kristin woos the Jersey Shore star enough for her to go into Vinny’s shop and try a piece of cake. When she tells him about her star studded party he does his best to keep his composure and takes the opportunity to learn a thing or two about what being famous is all about.
