When Vinny saddles up to meet with Susan Kelly Thompson, the head of Mylestone Equine Rescue, a sanctuary for abused and neglected horses, he is eager to aide anyone who helps his favorite animals. On his way back to the shop he gets a call from Cammy who tells him that she came to pick up a cupcake tower at the shop only to find it a melted mess. When Vinny returns, he finds the client’s two tier cake topper sitting on the counter with the frosting melted and the girls doing nothing. After a quick but effective fix, he sends it off successfully. His anger doesn’t let him miss the chance to tell the girls to quit horsing around and work harder on their jobs.
Tensions are high when, Cousin Joe intervenes by calling in Ron Ben-Israel, a renowned Manhattan cake decorator and former instructor of Vinny’s. Ron spends the day at the Cake Artist and offers his advice to Vinny about being a better boss and business owner. Ron suggests that Vinny make the girls feel more included in the creative process and proposes that Vinny have them participate in a cupcake competition and display the winner’s cupcake in the Cake Artist. Vinny thinks this is a great idea and recruits Cammy, Grandpa Joe, and Kristin to judge the girls’ cupcakes. Jess, Sam, and Teresa seize the opportunity to make some creative cupcakes that wow the judges, especially Grandpa Joe. Vinny has a consultation with Sylvia Alston who needs Vinny to make a huge golf themed cake for her husband Jay’s surprise 40th birthday party.
Things are getting crazy at the Cake Artist as Vinny and the girls set to work on both cakes and, in the midst of chaos, Ron Ben-Israel has Vinny come to visit his shop in Manhattan. Vinny can’t turn down an opportunity like this but it’s the same day he has to deliver Jay’s golf cake. So Vinny, with a newfound confidence in the girls after their busy week, leaves Jess and Sam in charge of delivering the golf cake while he heads to the Big Apple to check out Ron Ben-Israel Cakes.
