After a number of employees fail to show up for work, Heather and Lori decide to take over hiring from their managers in hopes of finding more reliable staff.  However, when the process becomes harder than they thought and the staffing crisis increases, Heather and Lori are forced to work the front counter together again as they discover that the world of hiring is a lot more difficult than it used to be. Meanwhile, Heather tackles her sub-par swimming skills while training for a triathlon as Kathie, the resident Cupcakes den mother, makes her rounds counseling the young Cupcakes’ employees.
