A Mother’s Last Wish
When Carolyn and her ex-husband, Donald, split, he was granted full custody of their daughter, Cassie, who was three years old at the time. Following the divorce, Carolyn was able to stay in touch with Cassie until she turned 12, when all communication abruptly ceased. After ten years of unanswered letters and disconnected phone numbers, Carolyn was convinced she was never going to see her daughter again. Today, Carolyn is undergoing chemotherapy for acute lymphocytic leukemia. She wants to see her daughter again and also alert her about this hereditary disease.
The Searchers: Carolyn Funk - Carolyn was recently diagnosed with cancer, and is worried that she may never get to see her only daughter again. The last time Carolyn saw Cassie was 10 years ago. Carolyn now lives in Grove, Okla., with her husband, John. They own a one-of-a-kind barbershop/music studio, where Carolyn gives piano, cello, and voice lessons.
The Searchees: Cassie Breanna McHone - Cassie attended the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, S.C. She has grown up with her father and several stepmothers, but she has always held onto the memory of her mother and the last visit she had with her ten years ago. She wonders if her mother ever thinks of her at all.
