5 Tips for Dealing With a Bad Hair Day

Turn your bad hair day into a happy one with tips from a professional.

Even if you have perfect hair, there is always that one day that’s too humid for even you…and your locks just won’t cooperate. We’ve asked Philip Kinglsey, who coined the phrase “bad hair day” and whose client list has included royalty, politicians, and celebrities such as Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, John Travolta, and Kate Winslet, to give us five tips on how to make even the worst hair day a little better. He kindly obliged.

1. Shampoo hair daily in the morning, preferably with a body-building product.

2. Follow with a body-building conditioner.

3. Towel-dry hair and apply Mario Russo Inflation Spray to give hair more body and protection.

4. Apply Aveda’s Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade. This will repel moisture, prevent frizziness, and leave your hair with a satin finish.

5. Blow-dry with a gentle brush similar to this Philip Kingsley styling brush (see above); something with flexible prongs and balled tips is ideal (note: the vented cushion is a nice touch), and finish with Kingsley’s Weatherproof Hair Spray.
