Goo took to the streets in this week’s episode of Goo Ru Style to see who’s stylin’ and who needs some fashion first aid. After watching, WE wanted to pick her brain about more of her favorite street styles. Here’s what she had to say:
What is your favorite thing about helping people improve their style?
When people come to the realization that they already have it in them – “It” being a fashion sense. Most people just need it tweaked a little bit. I love when people to look at themselves in the mirror and feel good about themselves. Having a hand in that is an amazing feeling. It’s very gratifying.
WE agree! Socks with sandals is not a good look. What other warm weather shoe options do you recommend for people who don’t want to show off their toes?
A thin sneaker like Converse. Sperry’s are also pretty cool.
What are some of your other fashion pet peeves and why?
Clothes that don’t fit properly. People who try trends that aren’t good for their body type and don’t accentuate their strong areas. For example, women with great legs and a not so great waistlines who opt for bodycon dresses. Those dresses look best on women with great waistlines. A short loose dress would look better on a woman with a great set of legs and would draw no attention to her less than flattering waistline.
Different cities have different fashion trends. Which city has your favorite street style and why?
New York and Philly are a tie… They are always so expressive and artistic. A lot of the people that don’t work in the fashion industry look like they are fashion gurus judging by their street style. I just love it! It’s always edgy, effortless and authentic.

Many of the WE tv stars showed up and turnt up for Jesus at the annual Megafest in Dallas, Texas the past few days. The five day festival is hosted by Bishop T.D. Jakes who WE just saw on this season of Braxton Family Values.
Festivities included panel discussions, film screenings, seminars, and some gospel singing and church worshipping!
The mother-daughter duo were part of the panel for the International Faith & Family Film Festival.

She’s been doing “Full Figure Fridays” on Instagram forever, so WE already know that Goo Goo Atkins is all about celebrating curves. However, try to find an interview or magazine article that expressly focuses on Goo’s weight, and you might have a hard time. Goo doesn’t document every aspect of her weight loss journey because, in her words, she is more than her size. But yesterday, Goo felt that it was time to come out and clear up a few things.
The stylist took to Instagram where she shared a collage that included four pictures of herself at various weights ranging from between 193-234lbs.
Just so we’re clear, 1st pic 211lbs (jan 2014), 2nd pic 193lbs ( jan 2015), 3rd 234 lbs (around July 2012), 4th pic 210lbs (feb of 2011) 1) Ive always been a thick girl 2) my weight has always fluctuated 3) I’ve NEVER had surgery 4) I was never larger than a 18 pant (20 if I wanted them loose) 5) I work out 6 days a week, VERY HARD 6) I’ve never had sculpting or fat transfers done on my body 7) people don’t have weight loss surgery to JUST lose 40 lbs 8) I’ve never been particularly large in the waist, then or now 9) the reason I don’t document every aspect my weight loss journey is because I AM MORE THAN MY SIZE and once you invite people into that part of your life THEY NEVER LEAVE. However I have shared that info on IG SEVERAL times for those who genuinely want help. 9) i began this journey TWO YEARS AGO and I’m actually not too thrilled that it’s only been 40 or so lbs. (lol) 10) just like I am with my career, with my weight loss, I’m not in a rush, I work hard and it WILL pay off. So don’t try to solicit me with the get skinny quick, eat what you want, I’ll pay you to use my unhealthy product schemes 11) Meet me at the hill, meet me at the track, meet me at Runyon canyon, meet me at a skype session with my trainer and see what kind of work I put in. 12) I ain’t NEVA faked or fronted, NO REASON TO START NOW. 13) I have never waist trained 14) my measurements WITH NO GIRDLE ON are: Bust 40 Waist 33 Hips 50 15) YOU HEARD IT FROM ME, TELL A FRIEND.
Goo Goo let everyone know that she has always been a thick girl with curves and she is not ashamed of it! Fad diets? Waist training? Weight loss surgery? Not this girl! Goo shut down anyone who might even suggest that she has undergone a surgery, sculpting or fat transfers. Having lost 40 pounds over the past two years, she let everyone know that no one undergoes surgery to lose that amount of weight.
Goo went on to say that while it might take some time to shed a few pounds, at least she’s doing it in the healthiest way possible. The stylist works out six days a week and shuns solicitations for get skinny quick schemes.
Way to go Goo Goo! WE love that you’re a positive role model when it comes to body image and think that you’re beautiful exactly as you are!

WE look forward to seeing how Miss Goo Goo continues to SLAY on the upcoming season of Mary Mary that premieres March 5 10/9c.
Tina has her good days and bad days which is understandable at this point in her life. So we have one of our favorite charitable events coming up, but Tina can’t pull it together to make it, but we can’t not be there. So I still gotta go. This event is for special needs kids and terminally ill kids and military families, and they all love Mary Mary. Somehow someway they’re gonna get Mary Mary. Welp. It’s a good thing my Mommy had a lot of girls… so when one can’t there is a pool of them to pick from. Goo & Tae Tae used to sing background for Mary Mary but this weekend they gonna sing upfront and fill in for Tina… I love having sisters. LOL! Let’s just hope the kids and foundation don’t mind…
Whew! A getaway is exactly what I need right – even if a lil work is involved. I am so glad my sisters Lana & Goo can come – that way all four of us can celebrate our birthdays together. And wouldn’t you know it, in the midst of fun & sun, Erica has to deliver news to us that my Daddy is sick. My daddy has stage IV cancer, c’mon Jesus really. Not now not now.
Mary Mary arrived to sound check to prepare for their tour. MMQuote: “We’re going on the line and fronting the money so that we can have everything the way we wanted.” And to no surprise, Tina has some issue with the way the set looks based on changes Mitchell has implemented. MMQuote: “Do I work for you? Or do you work for me?” With that, Tina storms off and leaves Erica to chase after her and try to settle the issues. WE don’t know what the set was supposed to look like according to Tina’s vision, but we don’t understand why Tina’s going at a 10 right now. Sorry Tina, but WE have to agree with Mitchell. This is really not that big of a deal, and you fuming and causing a ruckus while you should be doing sound check is not helping matters. Poor Mitchell just sounds beaten down at the end of this season, and WE truly feel bad for him. MMQuote: “I walk into the building and I’m nervous because Tina annihilated me on the phone.” Luckily, these two settle things quickly with a hug and an apology before Tina and Erica are surprised with a personalized video from their husband and kids.
Back in L.A., Goo is packing up her entire life to move to Atlanta to be with Justin. MMQuote: “I’m wondering if I’m moving too fast or if this is really what I want to do.” Goo seems really uncertainty about making this huge decision, so she calls Justin for advice. Justin thinks that a new environment could be good for Goo, and could cause her to experience something new. Even though she says she is moving, WE still have our doubts.
It is the first night of the tour in Jacksonville. MMQuote: “It seems like I just had my baby last week and here it goes. Mary Mary is in full swing again.” Tina is feeding off the energy, and it’s a great feeling to be back performing for the fans. However, this high couldn’t last forever as the lighting crew puts the spotlight on the wrong Mary during Erica’s solo portion of “Yesterday”. MMQuote: “We are having some serious technical difficulties on this stage.” However, it does not seem like the crowd minded at all, but Tina and Erica are perfectionists and will be making some serious changes to fix these issues. MMQuote: “Not acceptable. Mitch, get it right.” Mitchell will plan another walk through in Atlanta to make sure all these kinks are worked out before the Marys hit the stage tomorrow night.
Because of the lightening and technical issues, Tina and Erica need to pull another rehearsal to make sure Atlanta is perfect. The crew needs to tear down the stage, the band needs to pack up, and everyone needs to break for lunch, but Micromanager Tina’s list of fixes is taking up a lot of time. MMQuote: “I think everybody deserves respect. I don’t care what their title is. They don’t feel like they’re underlings.” With Tina running things and Erica getting annoyed at the constant demands, WE’re not sure if this rehearsal is ever going to end.
To defuse some tension, Mitchell takes Tina and Erica to lunch. MMQuote: “I can feel it coming. I’ve seen it a million times. We’re gonna have a big argument. We left the rehearsal and I’m still annoyed and so is she.” With Erica feeling disrespected, Tina is in no mood to talk about the past or anything but the issues with the tour. MMQuote: “I’m never going to adjust my life and the way I roll to the way that makes sense for you.” It is clear that Tina and Erica have two different styles of communication, but each should be able to come to a common agreement. And poor Mitchell is just stuck in the middle, switching his head from left to right like he’s watching a match at the U.S. Open. MMQuote: “Let’s go our separate ways because this ain’t workin’.” Mitchell tries to mediate the argument, but Tina is not listening to a word he says and leaves the restaurant. MMQuote: “We’re singing about God for Christ’s sake. Who in the world would argue that much to sing about God?” While Mitchell is calming Erica down inside, Tina is outside with Treiva waiting for a cab. WE give Mitchell the manager of the year award. He is doing an awesome job making Erica realize that she needs to work at this relationship before officially calling it quits. At the advice of Mitch, Erica calls Ms. Honey for some guidance. MMQuote: “Work. It. Out.” When Mitch tries to talk the same sense into Tina, she says that 3 letter word and hangs up.
MMQuote: “Erica and Tina have been fighting like this since the beginning of time.” This feels like the end for Erica, and with Tina being a no show at the venue with only two and a half hours left til show time, this may really be the end of Mary Mary. MMQuote: “I feel like I’m gonna throw up. I can’t do a show with one Mary! Where is she?” Tina is not picking up her phone either. Luckily, Tina shows up 45 minutes before the show, and to capitalize on this happiness Goo let’s Tina and Erica know she will not be moving to Atlanta.
As soon as the concert ends, Goo decides to break the news to Justin. MMQuote: “I don’t feel like now is the right time.” With Justin and Goo’s relationship not being serious in terms of an actual engagement, she just can’t bring herself to move away from her family. MMQuote: “I’m gonna stay my behind right here.” Let’s face it, Justin. Without that ring, a girl can’t haul her cookies cross country for just a promise. MMQuote: “You won’t know until you get on one knee and ask me to marry you.” Justin is not happy, but he needs to understand how Goo feels. This is a big decision, but if he can’t support her decision then Goo will say her “goodbye.”
On the tour bus, the sisters talk out their issues. The main issue is communication, and these two must compromise a little bit in order to work things out. MMQuote: “I think we absolutely need to take a break from Mary Mary because I’m not cut out for it anymore, Erica.” The sisters agree to go their separate ways and assess what each of them wants. As the sisters talk over their decision with Mitch, he knows this is the official break up of Mary Mary. MMQuote: “We need a break and we need to get off the merry-go-round for a while.”
Well, that’s it for season 2… See you in season 3!
