Hi friends,
As I write this, I am preparing for the airing of the first episode of “The Locator,” which I am so excited for you to see! Not because of anything to do with me, but because of the amazing family in this episode! In all my years of reuniting families, I don’t think I ever met a man more wrought with pain or more dedicated to finding his missing brother than Jerry Sloop. Anyone who thinks men don’t have feelings never met Jerry!
Speaking of meeting Jerry, he does NOT look anything like he sounds on the phone! When I first spoke to him, he was SO emotional on the phone, he made me weepy. This man has NEVER stopped loving his missing brother! He hasn’t seen his brother since he was a very young boy, but you would think they grew up together based on how much he loves him!
When I flew in to meet Jerry and his family, I was shocked to see how “tough” Jerry looked. If you saw him out in public, you might be a little intimidated by him. And you would NEVER imagine him to be the kind, tender man he truly is. Meeting him reminded me that we should all be slow to judge and quick to hug.
Another shocker about this experience with Jerry, was when I met his sister Debra. The shock had nothing to do with her looks at all; she looks quite normal and did not take on any of Jerry’s “style.” (LOL, just teasing you Jerry.) What really amazed me about Debra was the INCREDIBLE amount of investigative work she did over the years! Most people just surf the Internet or thumb through phone books-she conducted an all-out professional missing persons investigation — on her own!! If she lived closer to me, I might recruit her to be on Team Troy!
I don’t want to give anything away, but let me offer this one suggestion about this first episode of “The Locator” – if there is one episode I want you to have the man in your life watch with you, it’s definitely this one. It will touch even the toughest guy, I promise! (In fact, blog me back and let me know what your husband said after the show.)
I better get going. I am sitting here reading all of these amazing stories so many of you have submitted and we are trying to get some help to as many of you as possible. The notes are coming in much, much faster than I can read them but I’m trying, I really am. (I’ll work hard to help as many of you as possible and I am counting on you to help us by spreading the word about the show everywhere you can think of.)
