Girlfriend GetawaysFinding time to spend with your closest girlfriends isn’t always easy but it’s worth it! Pick one of the 5 great locations below and go away with your girls. |
Back in the day, you and your friends probably had plenty of time for girl-bonding. But these days, between your career and yoga classes, you barely have time to talk on the phone, much less grab a quick dinner once a month. Well, that’s just not acceptable! The solution: talk to your girlfriends, pull out your PDA’s, and find a good weekend to go away together. Whether you’re looking to chill by the beach, relive your wild sorority days, or explore wine country, here are five perfect destinations for a group of grown-up girls.
Red Mountain Spa, St. George, Utah:

If you and your gal pals are looking for a place where you can focus on your health and well-being and relax, consider the Red Mountain Spa, a moderately-priced spa right at the entrance to Snow Canyon State Park. This spot has thirty different hiking trails, offers kayaking and mountain-biking, and serves healthy, spa cuisine. After a day on the trails, take a class on fitness, nutrition, or cooking, or just reward yourself with a massage or facial in their full-service spa. And no worries—they do serve wine and beer, so after your day of healthy-living, you’ll be able to unwind together with a bottle of vino.
The Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas:
Unleash your inner bad girls with a trip to Vegas. While you really can’t go wrong with any of the big hotels along the Strip, the Palms is the place to be. While you may not be high-roller enough to stay at one of their “Fantasy Suites,” their ’luxe standard rooms will do the trick. Plus, some of the best food and nightlife in Vegas are right in the building; try dinner at Alize, and then check out ghostbar, which has a large, open deck with 180-degree views of the city, as well as Rain, a great club to get your dance on…and flirt with sexy strangers. They also have a spa to recuperate from the craziness of the night before.
Carneros Inn, Napa Valley:

Wine-lovers looking for a little peace and quiet will look forward to exploring California’s Napa Valley. In the Carneros wine growing region, set among 27 acres of grape vines, apple orchards, and farmland, is the Carneros Inn. They have 86 private guest cottages, each with its own patio and garden, wood-burning fireplace, and outdoor shower. The Inn also has three restaurants, a pool, a deluxe spa, and is just a short drive from a number of vineyards, although they recommend Domain Carneros and Artesa.
The Cove Atlantis, Bahamas:
If you’re looking to just lounge by the pool or beach and do a whole lot of nothing, consider relaxing in the Bahamas. A smaller resort within the larger Atlantis hotel, the chilled-out Cove Atlantis offers 600 huge suites, all with ocean view and modern amenities. In addition to the quiet, serene pool at the Cove itself (read: no screaming kids), guests have access to any of the 20 pools at the larger, more Disneyland-like Atlantis. For gourmet dining, you can enjoy a meal at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill at The Cove, or check out Nobu at the Atlantis.
Of course, no pampering vacation would be complete without a top-of-the-line spa experience. The Mandara Spa , set among water gardens and designed with stones and bamboo, is located right on the property.
Sofitel New York, New York City:
If you’ve got some money to burn, and an itch to shop at some of the best stores in the world, look no further than New York City. While there are a number of great hotels in Manhattan—uptown, downtown, midtown (see hotels.com for deals on rooms)—the Sofitel is centrally located, just a few blocks from Times Square, Fifth Avenue, the Museum of Modern Art, and one of the best day spas in the city, Cornelia Day Resort.
For high-end shopping, you’ll definitely want to stroll the busy streets of 5th Avenue, or pop downtown to Soho for the more trendy boutiques. With Broadway only a few avenues away, consider catching a show like Legally Blonde , a funny, frothy musical that fits the whole girlie weekend theme. Like we said, it’s a pricey weekend, so be sure to have some extra funds available so you can really live it up in the Big Apple.
