Daily life in prison? Well, to tell you the truth it is incredibly monotonous. Its part of the way they (prison officials) punish us. Prison is hard to describe in any form or matter. I would tell someone that has never been here to avoid it AT ALL COSTS because it is very hard to live your life in any kind of humane manner here. One of the tougher aspects of life in prison is that one has to constantly be on guard. Everything you say is subject to a barrage of questions. You are reminded every day of who you are and what you can and cannot do. I have had some positive moments in here because I created them. I do keep to myself a whole lot which is something that I did not do before. I am going to assume that that is a positive thing. I miss almost everything about my life before prison. I miss being able to go outside. I miss my family life - the daily interaction I had with them. I miss my job and my total independence. I miss my son and daughters. I miss cooking and the company of my men. It was hard to adjust to going to prison as I knew I had not done anything to cause me to be here. My biggest regret is that I was afraid of our system, so I took a plea. I was afraid of being in a situation that I could not control. If I could leave prison for one day I would go visit my son, daughters and grandchildren and just have a wonderful day. I would enjoy it to the fullest. |
