Marianne Carroll and Lauren Bozich co-own White Flower Cake Shoppe in Beachwood, Ohio, a suburban of Cleveland.

Marianne and Lauren met when they were in the seventh grade and have been best friends ever since.  In fact, they shared their very first job together at the young age of 16 at Dairy Queen.  It was here they got their very first taste of cake decorating, along with copious amounts of ice cream.

The two friends went their separate ways for college.  Marianne attended Columbus College of Art and Design where she majored in oil painting.  Meanwhile, Lauren crossed the state line to attend Pittsburgh Art Institute where she entered the world of movie special effects and movie make up.

It wasn’t long until both friends found themselves working together in bakeries.  But, this time the allure wasn’t “all you can eat” ice cream, they needed money for expensive oil paints, computer software and make up supplies for their artistic pursuits.  Little did they know that this work would provide a means for them to create edible art.

Both friends had absorbed a great deal of hands on baking experience and recipes from their stints at numerous bakeries.  So after working a variety of these bad, dead end jobs, Marianne and Lauren decided it was time to jump head first into the world of fondant and wedding cakes.  Thus in 2007 White Flower Cake Shoppe was born.  A high-end cake shop that specializes in delicious handcrafted cakes.

Both Marianne and Lauren enjoy the fact that they can use the artistic side of their brains and still make a living through cake art.  And artists they are.  Their cakes speak for themselves.  Marianne brings a more traditional approach to the cakes she designs because of her classic oil painting skills.  Lauren, on the other hand, utilizes her 3-D sculpting skills that she honed when creating special effect masks to create to push the boundaries of sculpted untraditional cake designs.  Both women bring two distinctive sets of talent and perspective to their work.

This is the first season White Flower Cake Shoppe has appeared on Amazing Wedding Cakes.  Their entertaining interaction and intricate designs are a wonderful addition to the show.
