Angela Simmons Delivers a Knock-Out Punch Full of Wisdom

Growing Up Hip Hop star, Angela Simmons is no stranger to hard work, whether it’s building her empire or throwing hooks in the speed bag - all while tending to her mommy duties. Simmons recently teamed up with Champs Sports “Her Take” and singer Steph Lecor to get in the boxing ring to punch through her workout and chat about business, life, and wisdom from her father, legendary rapper, Rev Run and then hopped over to VIBE Magazine to dish on the session.

WE know Angela is the Queen of Fitness, and she took some time to explain what working out does for her,

“I love working out. Working out is an escape from everything else I have going on. So, it’s an important part of the day for me,” she said.

From yoga to boxing, Simmons has a pretty regimented routine, but things are a little different now that she has baby Sutton. “Motherhood has me really busy. I think I’m just adjusting,” she revealed. She added that she even gets Sutton involved in her workouts!

“When no one’s around, I’m like, “Okay, time to work out with me.” He’s asleep during most of my workouts and I don’t usually do anything too strenuous when he’s with me. Just something to get me sweating.”

Of course, you can’t work out without some tunes to get your tush moving! So, it’s no surprise that this hip-hop heiress has lots of rap on her playlist. She told VIBE she has artists like Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z on her playlist, as well as some others. “I really like turned up music when I’m working out: Future, Beyoncé, JAY and definitely Khaled’s album. All those different artists inspire me in the gym because I need good music to get it going,” Simmons replied.

Growing up around lots of hip hop legends, Simmons was bound to get some advice she could apply to her growing empire. During “Her Take”, Simmons revealed the best advice she’s ever received from her dad Rev Run.

“It’s going to sound so cliché, but ever since I was younger, my dad would say, ‘do your best and forget the rest.’ It’s so simple, yet you can apply it to anywhere in your life. If you just realize ‘did I do my best in that?’ then cool, I can leave it all alone, leave it in God’s hands and keep it moving,” explained Angela.
