This season, WE are calling on Dr. Ish to tell us which Boot Campers are rising to the top and succeeding during their two weeks at the mansion. Here's what he had to say about season 9, episode 2...

Relationships can be hard. Coming to Marriage Boot Camp is even harder. It’s only day two and some of our couples are already reaching their boiling points - not only with their partners, but also their housemates. But, getting frustrated and speaking out actually isn’t a bad thing, especially in this house.

So for that reason, Mehgan James is this weeks MVP!

Our Lincoln Letter drill is a great therapeutic tool we use all the time to help people push through a trauma or loss to get closure through telling their whole truth. It also works great for relationships…unless you’re JJ. The idea is to write heartfelt truths that you’d otherwise be afraid to tell your partner, not sophomoric musings about what’s wrong with the girl you like. He might as well have said Juelia has cooties. C’mon man. He tried to squirm out of revealing it, but Mehgan wouldn’t let it go.

After the death drill, she went around the room and asked each boot camper how it went for them and when she found out that J.J. didn’t read his letter you could see the whole flow of emotions on her face, from shock to confusion to flat out agitation. ‘We all had to do it, so why not you?’ Great question, Mehgan!

And, we heard you. Dr. V, Judge Toler and I heard her lead the charge for J.J. to read his letter and we game-planned before Judge Toler’s evaluation on the best way to let Juelia know what was in J.J.’s letter. So we kept our word to J.J. We didn’t make him read his letter, but we made a space for Juelia to read it for herself. We did the right thing for her and for them as a couple.

She needed to know, and Mehgan had a strong intuition that told her Juelia needed to know, so kudos to you Mehgan for stepping up, using your voice and rattling the Boot Camp cage to help us get this done! Marriage Boot Camp is a journey and we’re all in it together. Last week we saw what happens when groupthink goes right! Great job!
