Boogie Style vs. Briana Style

On this week’s episode of Growing Up Hip Hop, Boogie and Briana finally reached out for help in dealing with their demons and WE couldn’t be more proud of them!

Friends and family started expressing their concern over Boogie’s partying last season after he was pulled over for driving under the influence. He assured everyone, including his mother, that he didn’t have a problem, but this season, Boogie has gotten himself into more trouble with alcohol and drugs and is currently dealing with yet another DWI. Now, Boogie’s family and friends are doing all they can to keep him out of harm’s way. WE love how Briana stepped up and went to talk about her concerns with Boogie’s dad, while Romeo is trying to get him back on a spiritual track. The first step is admitting you have a problem and Boogie did just that. He admitted that he turned to drugs and alcohol when he was feeling alone and took his friends up on their invitations to meetings and a Bible study.

While Briana has been busy making sure that Boogie is okay, she’s been facing down some demons of her own. According to Briana, Mary J. Blige was one of the only people she could turn to in times of need. But once Mary and her father’s marriage dissolved, Briana was left feeling totally abandoned by her stepmother. This week, she sought the help of her longtime confidant and admitted to wasting years of her life putting hard drugs before her art. At Master P’s Bible study, she surprised everyone by breaking down. Now, Briana is looking to make peace with her enemies, and WE can only hope that that’s her way of starting to heal.

WE want the best for Boogie and Briana, and hope that their reaching out this week was the first step towards their full recovery. Everyone struggles sometimes, what would you do to help a friend in need?
