The son of the late-great Jam Master Jay of Run D.M.C. revealed he was leery about doing the first season, but knew he had to come back for season 2. The difference between the two seasons? He hinted that viewers will get to see more of his personal side. “On the first season, I was blocked and had walls up. I wasn’t really letting people in too much,” Mizell explained. “Second season, I feel like we focused more on giving people more on what’s going on inside of my head, and what I’ve gone through, and how it’s built me as a person as well.” However, Mizell says the one sip of tea WE won’t be getting is insight to his dating life. While he’s not single he says he prefers to keep that part of his life private.

Mizell, who is currently touring with rapper A$AP Ferg, says he has his own EP coming out! He dished that he has artists like Sebastian Mikael, and producer Jonathan Stein working on the project. He says the EP will probably be released before the end of the year, but as of right now, the project is still untitled.

Mizell is also continuing his work with the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music, a foundation his mother started a year after his father passed away. “We started raising money for inner city schools for their music education programs. We’ve been working with different schools, businesses and brands to raise awareness,” Mizell said.

WE can’t wait to know more about TJ Mizell and the rest of the Growing Up Hip Hop cast this season, Thursdays at 9|8c.
