Waka Reflects on His Past Infidelities: 'I Have Grown'
True love isn't easy, but it's worth it. Just ask Waka Flocka Flame and Tammy Rivera.
The couple put their relationship on full display during this season of Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition, enduring challenges that tested their trust, devotion, and love for one another. They successfully came out on the other side and are set to renew their vows on Waka & Tammy Tie the Knot, airing Thursday at 10|9c.
But, if you let the couple tell it, these past few years have been one hell of a test.
In a recent interview with the New York Post, Waka and Tammy got candid about a rough patch that almost cost them their relationship. The couple separated for six months in 2016 after Tammy learned of Waka's infidelity.
"He could've got somebody pregnant," she said. "You don't know what could happen when you cheat. But it's a part of growth and thank God it didn't happen to us."
Waka admitted he was wrong in his actions, but said he has since matured into the man he is today.
"Cheating is wrong, but you can't compare me to somebody who is a habitual cheater and having babies," he said. "I have grown from that. I needed to be separated [from Tammy] because I just needed to slow down. I always knew Tammy was the one. I just wanted to know how long I could have fun."
Waka and Tammy have now been married for five years and are focused on raising Charlie, Tammy’s 13-year-old daughter. The couple said they intend on having children in the future.
"We are just doing us." Waka said. "Our strength is our unity and I want us to be an example of, 'Anything can happen if you really are looking for love.'"
